DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Artistic Collaboration \nSaturday\, April 25\, 2026 \nArtist’s Talk at 4:00 pm\, Goethe Room at the Fellowship Community \nEurythmy Performance at 7:00 pm\, Threefold Auditorium \nWe are delighted to celebrate and honor Grigory Smirnov’s longstanding collaboration with eurythmists. Grigory Smirnov has worked closely with Eurythmy Spring Valley since 2019\, both as a pianist and a composer. Over the years\, many of his compositions have been performed in eurythmy\, and this April\, we will bring as many tone eurythmy pieces as possible to visibility on stage\, celebrating many gifts that Grigory brings to our community. In addition to the evening performance\, the afternoon will feature artist’s talk about sources of musical inspiration\, the composing process\, and how working with eurythmy has influenced his artistic path. \nThe afternoon talk is free. \nEvening performance tickets at the door: $20 (regular)\, $12 (students and seniors) \nClick here to learn more! \nGrigory Smirnov‘s music has been performed worldwide in major venues\, such as Carnegie Hall\, NYC\, Lincoln Center\, NYC\, Tanglewood Festival\, MA\, Moscow Philharmonic Hall\, Russia\, and the Goetheanum\, Switzerland. Originally from Siberia\, Russia\, Grigory Smirnov came to New York in 2008 to pursue his graduate studies at The Juilliard School\, NYC\, and has been living and working in the United States ever since.

Saturday\, April 25\, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm \nWe will explore artistic\, therapeutic\, and formative speech aspects of the “Concordances” in eurythmy in relation to Rudolf Steiner’s insights shared on December 28\, 1923\, and Lea van der Pals’ Tone Eurythmy Therapy. \nWorkshop Fee: $125 \nJan Ranck studied music and comparative literature at Indiana University\, Bloomington\, USA\, flute at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague\, Netherlands\, eurythmy at the Eurythmeum of Lea van der Pals in Dornach\, Switzerland\, and eurythmy therapy in Stuttgart\, Germany. After serving on the faculty of eurythmy trainings in Dornach and London\, she founded the Jerusalem Eurythmy Ensemble (1990) and the Jerusalem Academy of Eurythmy (1992). In 1999\, she also joined the faculty of the Waldorf Seminar at the David Yellin Academic College of Education in Jerusalem\, Israel. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 31\, 2026\, at 7:30 pm; Wednesday\, April 1\, 2026\, at 7:30 pm \nJoin us for the end-of-term sharing\, and experience what has grown during these last cold months. Each class has a large curriculum to tackle in the second term. \nThe second-year students began their exploration of intervals and their first big Steiner form–Mendelssohn’s Funeral March–while diving into the shifts of harmony. In speech eurythmy\, they tackled Apollonian forms while also deepening their eurythmic speaking. \nThe third- and fifth-year students worked deeply with color in the eurythmy figures\, and also with soul calendars while diving into English sounds. Please join us for an exploration into the world of color in tone eurythmy with Sea-Anna Vasilas\, speech eurythmy with Cameron MacArthur\, and painting with Keith Sagal. \nIn tone eurythmy\, or visible singing\, we are bringing the experience of music to visibility. We will discover how we can work with our whole self as an instrument to express the colors of the soul in the major and minor moods. Through eurythmy\, we become the harmony in music as it breathes dynamically within and around the human being. \nIn speech eurythmy\, we will work with the color gestures as they weave through poetry and language. SUMMARY:Pedagogical Eurythmy Refresher Courses
DESCRIPTION:Week One: Monday – Friday\, August 11-15\, 2025 \nWeek Two: Monday – Friday\, August 18-22\, 2025 \nDuring the first week\, we’ll be working on the curriculum for Grades 6-8 with Susan Eggers\, a long-time eurythmist and a class teacher. With Lisa Profumo\, a class teacher at the Berkshire Waldorf School\, we’ll explore the general middle school curriculum and the work with adolescents. \nDuring the second week\, the focus will shift to high school students with Alexandra Spadea\, a eurythmist at the Rudolf Steiner School\, New York City. \nEach course will provide a review of pedagogical forms and their relevance for the period of childhood being studied\, as well as themes from the curriculum\, especially adaptable for use in eurythmy. We will also have time to share materials with one another and discuss topics of current concern and interest. \nESV is holding these pedagogical courses for the eurythmy students in their training\, but have found that it’s enriching for everyone to have practicing teachers join the ongoing training as Refresher courses. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, July 27\, through Thursday\, July 31 \nAttend a one-week course of intensive eurythmy for professional eurythmists at Eurythmy Spring Valley with Dorothea Mier\, Natasha Moss\, Barbara Schneider-Serio. \n– Tone eurythmy with Dorothea Mier: The focus of our work will be the Adagio Cantabile from  Beethoven’s Sonata in C minor (Pathetique)\, Op. 13\, with a form by Rudolf Steiner. Belonging to the piece\, we will be exploring the form and basic elements of tone eurythmy. \n– Speech eurythmy with Natasha Moss: How to bring the word into space? Just as a musician plays music on his/her instrument\, so might we play a poem on or through the instrument of eurythmy\, which is essentially oneself. \nWe will work with the eurythmy figures as living expressions of imagination\, inspiration\, and intuition\, and with the lexicon of elements given by Rudolf Steiner towards becoming an instrument through which we might play the “word” as poetry. \n– Tone eurythmy with Barbara Schneider-Serio: We will be working on a 20th century piece by Samuel Barber\, looking at how to create a group form and work on related exercises. Each graduate will perform a speech and a tone solo as the culmination of an intensive\, individual artistic process. \nIn speech eurythmy\, the students chose a wide range of poetry: Novalis\, Christopher Fry\, Ethelbert Miller\, and Kathleen Raine. Each class has a large curriculum to tackle in the second term. \nThe first year has their first introduction to tone eurythmy\, and they continue in speech eurythmy with poetic forms\, word and sentence creations. The second year tackles their first big music pieces\, including Steiner forms\, harmonies and intervals\, and the big topic of Apollonian forms. The 4th year will share a few “teasers” for their work towards their graduation at the end of May.
