SUMMARY:Sheep to Shawl
DESCRIPTION:Eight Saturdays: Oct. 3\, Nov. 7\, Dec. 12\, Jan. 16\, Feb. 6\, Mar.13\, Apr. 10\, May 29\n10 am – 4 pm \nThe spinning of thread and yarn was a key factor in the advancement of civilization\, and spindles were one of the earliest human tools. The development of knotted and woven textiles followed\, and spinning became part of the rhythm of life for many thousands of years. \nSpinning remains an archetypal activity; it adds creativity to our knitting\, crochet\, and weaving projects. Spinning is meditative\, requires focus\, and brings great satisfaction. \nThis year’s course will take place on one Saturday a month\, over eight months. We will wash and card raw wool\, learn how to spin on a spindle\, and practice techniques for controlling the quality of the yarn. We will have a chance to dye some of our wool and create a small knitted or crocheted project. \nAdmission: $1\,050 for 8 classes \nMore info please contact information@fibercraftstudio.org

SUMMARY:Harvesting Late Summer Color: Plant Dyeing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 19. 10:00 am-4:00 pm.  \nThis workshop is an introduction to the dye plants and dyeing projects that are characteristic of the end of summer. We will start the day harvesting flowers\, leaves\, and roots from our biodynamic dye plant garden. As we deepen our acquaintance and receive the beautiful colors of the plants\, we feel the healing energy of the plant world. \nBack at the Studio\, we will dye a variety of natural materials with our harvest: blue hues with fresh Japanese indigo\, and yellow\, orange\, and pink from flowers and roots. Participants will also be able to play with some shibori and eco-printing techniques to create unique fabric or scarves. All materials are included- organic cotton bandanas\, silk or wool scarves\, a silk pouch\, and dyes from our bio-dynamic garden: Japanese indigo\, madder\, yellow cosmos\, dyer’s coreopsis\, and marigold. \nEnrollment is limited\, and pre-registration is required. Ages 16 and up. \nAdmission: $125 \nFor more information miho@fibercraftstudio.org

SUMMARY:Rigid Heddle Weaving Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Three sessions: Sunday\, July 12; Saturday\, July 18; and Sunday\, July 19 \n10:00 am – 3:00 pm \nFor most of human history\, every piece of cloth began with someone sitting down at a loom. Weaving was practical\, but it was also meditative\, communal\, a way of marking time through making. \nOver three sessions\, you’ll learn to weave on a 16-inch rigid heddle loom. We’ll direct-warp the loom together\, then explore how color\, texture\, and yarn weight talk to each other as the cloth grows row by row. Each piece that emerges will be entirely your own: a record of your choices\, your instincts\, your moving hands. \nBeginners are very welcome\, as is anyone who has woven before and wants to go deeper. The setting is relaxed and communal with plenty of room to follow your own creative instincts. You’ll leave with a finished piece and a new relationship with the cloth in your life. \nFor ages 16 and up. \nFee: $395 \nFor more information contact miho@fibercraftstudio.org

SUMMARY:Dyeing a Rainbow: Silk Veil Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 31\, 2pm – 5pm \nJoin us in making an extra large size rainbow silk veil learning how to over-dye with three kinds of plant colors. You will receive healing energy from the color of nature and be surprised by the wonder of over-dye magic. \nIn this workshop\, participants will enjoy colors by mixing the three primary colors on paper first using pastel to understand how rainbow colors are created and how we overdye on silk. We will prepare a natural indigo vat\, along with two additional dye pots—red (Eastern brazilwood) and yellow (Osage orange)—and use them to dye silk. Participants will begin by dyeing a sample strip\, then create their own oversized silk veil. Let’s feel colors together! \nCost: $125 per adult and $10 for additional children \nMordanted silk veil is 35″ X 108″ and a small mordanted silk will be provided to practice over-dyeing. \nRegistration includes all supplies \nAdmission: $125 for adults; $10 for additional children \nFor more information contact information@fibercraftstudio.org

SUMMARY:Weaving Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, 3/1\, Saturday\, 3/7\, Sunday\, 3/8 \n10am – 3pm \nOver the course of three sessions\, Jeni Toth will introduce the fundamental relationship between warp and weft while participants learn to weave on a 16-inch rigid heddle loom\, an approachable yet versatile tool. Together\, we will learn how to direct-warp the loom\, creating the long\, evenly spaced threads that form the foundation of a woven cloth. From there\, participants will discover the calming rhythm of weaving: creating spaces to guide the weft threads in and out\, over and under—much like creativity\, emotion\, and time itself—uniting structure with expression. This workshop offers an introduction to technique and an invitation to slow down\, work rhythmically with the hands\, and experience the warmth of creation in community. Participants can expect to leave with their handwoven fabric\, practical skills they can build upon\, and a deeper appreciation for weaving as both an ancient craft and a living\, creative practice. Class size is limited. \nAdmission: $395 \nFor more information contact information@fibercraftstudio.org

SUMMARY:Sheep to Yarn: Spindle Spinning
DESCRIPTION:Sunday: January 18\, 25; February 1\, February 15\, 2026 \n1:00pm – 5:00pm \nCome to the Fiber Craft Studio to experience the transformation of natural fibers. Spindles are among the earliest human tools\, and as woven textiles developed\, spinning became an integral part of the rhythm of life for thousands of years. While it is no longer required\, spindle spinning remains an archetypal activity\, adding creativity to our knitting\, crochet\, and weaving projects. It is meditative\, requires focus\, and brings great satisfaction. In this four-session course\, we will spin with animal fibers\, primarily wool\, strengthening our skills and experimenting with different breeds to create sample skeins for a weaving project. \nAdmission: $395 includes all materials \nFor more information please contact information@fibercraftstudio.org
