SUMMARY:The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity in Light of Life After Death
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, December 22 at 7:30 pm \nThe Threefold Branch invites you to a special event:\nA lecture with exercises and conversation with Andreas Schmitt. \nThe Philosophy of Spiritual Activity\, Rudolf Steiner’s early work\, written long before he developed Anthroposophy\, remains one of his most important works.  He once described it as the “surest path to the spiritual.” \nThe soul and spiritual qualities acquired through training in The Philosophy of Spiritual Activity can also be viewed in light of the stages the soul passes through in Life After Death. \nOn this Monday in the 4th week of Advent\, we will together explore these unique qualities. \nAndreas Schmitt\, the founder and leader of the Annual Training Philosophy of Freedom\, a worldwide schooling path through the Philosophy of Spiritual Activity\, is also an anthroposophic physician and researcher in the Filderclinic and the University Hospital in Tübingen\, Germany. He has also established a yearly meditative journey through the stages of life after death. \nContact Melissa Lyons\, melisssa@threefold.org \nSuggested donation: $20. No one will be turned away for financial reasons.

SUMMARY:Working Together: Exploring what Steiner meant by the term “association”
DESCRIPTION:A workshop with Seth Jordan \nFebruary 15th\, 1:30-5:00 pm \nDrop-in Rate: $0-150 \nThroughout his life\, Rudolf Steiner spoke about the need to work together in the spirit of brotherhood/sisterhood. But Steiner was no abstract moralist. He knew the interpersonal difficulties that inevitably arise\, as well as the larger capitalist structures in need transforming\, and he gave practical indications on how to address these things. \nJoin us as we explore — with Steiner’s help — the nature\, challenges\, and possibilities of working together. \nFor more info\, and to register\, contact Ezra Sullivan at ezra@threefold.org

SUMMARY:EVIL. A talk by Stephen Usher
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, August 10\, 2024\, at 7:00 pm\n\nInspired by attending the  Association for the Rescue of Children conference in Indiana in March\, Stephen Usher has focused his attention on the great challenge of evil in the fifth cultural epoch.  Evil is an enormous topic connected with the awakening of the consciousness soul\, the reappearance of Christ in the etheric\, and the tendencies toward evil that live in all human beings since the start of the fifth epoch.  Stephen will address the inner psychological aspects as well as the larger spiritual questions about the beings that goad us toward evil.\n\n\nStephen E. Usher received his PhD in economics from the University of Michigan where he met Anthroposophy in Ernst Katz’s physics course. He served as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York\, was managing director of the Anthroposophic Press\, and taught history at the Austin Waldorf School.  He leads a Steiner study group in Austin and has authored many articles about Rudolf Steiner and Anthroposophy.\n\nAdmission: $12/7

SUMMARY:A Magical Musical Mystery World Tour
DESCRIPTION:With Nick Wheeler\nBenefit for the 4th Year Dornach Fund \nThe world of music is as rich\, diverse\, and extraordinary as that of languages. Indeed\, anthropologists and ethnomusicologists have never identified a society that does not have some form of musical expression. Music sculpts our organs\, reflects our folk souls and shapes our identities. The evolution of musical traditions runs parallel to that of human consciousness. Many corners of the world have preserved certain musical footprints that are an integral part of our lineage. From the frenetic rhythms of Pacific drumming and Indonesian gamelan to the haunting harmonies of polyphonic folksong\, and from “found” environmental music to curious handmade instruments\, this presentation will showcase unique musical traditions from around the world and introduce under-represented cultures whose musical languages – scales\, harmonies\, tonality and rhythms – are rarely heard in the West\, providing a feast of sights\, sounds\, and soul nourishment. \nNick Wheeler is an Antipodean refugee who escaped from a country with five times as many sheep as people and eventually washed up on the shores of the Hudson River\, after a 25-year detour to China. After graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a Masters of Music in Ethnomusicology\, he moved to China in 1990 to learn the language and conduct research into the music of minority nationalities that populate the border regions. Having abandoned dreams of making a fortune with a doctorate in music and instead making a living as a business executive\, Nick moved to New York with his family in 2015 so his children could attend Green Meadow Waldorf School. He currently serves as the Director of External Communications for The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory. \nAdmission: $18 / $12 students and seniors. \nInformation: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:Steiner’s Zodiac and Planets\, Explored through Eurythmy
DESCRIPTION:A Lecture by Mark Ebersole\nLiving in our material\, earthly world\, we easily forget that our true home is elsewhere\, in the worlds of spiritual beings. Our earth is always filled with the working and presence of these beings\, but the cosmos of planets and stars is their—and our—higher reality\, the source of great powers of soul\, spirit\, wisdom\, and strength. Steiner spoke above all of language—the sounds of the alphabet—as immediate expression of these forces\, and eurythmy opens the gates of great exploration of these worlds through sound\, zodiac\, and planet gestures\, as well as through colors and forms. His “Zodiac Verses”—aka “The Twelve Moods”—will be central to this course\, along with the content from the Foundation Stone Meditation. We will pursue this through a meditative practice of eurythmy rather than a performative aspect\, which yet can deepen and enliven all our stage\, pedagogic\, and therapeutic work. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.
