SUMMARY:A Magical Musical Mystery World Tour
DESCRIPTION:With Nick Wheeler\nBenefit for the 4th Year Dornach Fund \nThe world of music is as rich\, diverse\, and extraordinary as that of languages. Indeed\, anthropologists and ethnomusicologists have never identified a society that does not have some form of musical expression. Music sculpts our organs\, reflects our folk souls and shapes our identities. The evolution of musical traditions runs parallel to that of human consciousness. Many corners of the world have preserved certain musical footprints that are an integral part of our lineage. From the frenetic rhythms of Pacific drumming and Indonesian gamelan to the haunting harmonies of polyphonic folksong\, and from “found” environmental music to curious handmade instruments\, this presentation will showcase unique musical traditions from around the world and introduce under-represented cultures whose musical languages – scales\, harmonies\, tonality and rhythms – are rarely heard in the West\, providing a feast of sights\, sounds\, and soul nourishment. \nNick Wheeler is an Antipodean refugee who escaped from a country with five times as many sheep as people and eventually washed up on the shores of the Hudson River\, after a 25-year detour to China. After graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a Masters of Music in Ethnomusicology\, he moved to China in 1990 to learn the language and conduct research into the music of minority nationalities that populate the border regions. Having abandoned dreams of making a fortune with a doctorate in music and instead making a living as a business executive\, Nick moved to New York with his family in 2015 so his children could attend Green Meadow Waldorf School. He currently serves as the Director of External Communications for The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory. \nAdmission: $18 / $12 students and seniors. \nInformation: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:Steiner’s Zodiac and Planets\, Explored through Eurythmy
DESCRIPTION:A Lecture by Mark Ebersole\nLiving in our material\, earthly world\, we easily forget that our true home is elsewhere\, in the worlds of spiritual beings. Our earth is always filled with the working and presence of these beings\, but the cosmos of planets and stars is their—and our—higher reality\, the source of great powers of soul\, spirit\, wisdom\, and strength. Steiner spoke above all of language—the sounds of the alphabet—as immediate expression of these forces\, and eurythmy opens the gates of great exploration of these worlds through sound\, zodiac\, and planet gestures\, as well as through colors and forms. His “Zodiac Verses”—aka “The Twelve Moods”—will be central to this course\, along with the content from the Foundation Stone Meditation. We will pursue this through a meditative practice of eurythmy rather than a performative aspect\, which yet can deepen and enliven all our stage\, pedagogic\, and therapeutic work. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:The Categories of Aristotle: Is There a Path to Expansion?
DESCRIPTION:Public Lecture and Workshop with Claudia Fontana\nDoes one have to be a philosopher of great erudition to understand Aristotle’s gift to humanity – his Categories? Perhaps\, yes! However\, let us explore a path out of intellectual confinement to an experience of expansion supported by eurythmy. \nLecture: Friday\, October 28\, 7:30pm at Threefold Auditorium. Admission: $12 / $7 students and seniors. \nEurythmy Workshop: Saturday\, October 29\, 9:00am-12:30pm at the School of Eurythmy. Fee: $45. \nClaudia Fontana saw a Eurythmy performance when still a teenager. Unbeknownst to her at the time\, that performance was the gate to her destiny path. Soon thereafter she studied eurythmy in Vienna and subsequently spent fourteen years as a performer with the Dornach\, London\, and Stuttgart Eurythmeum ensembles. Teaching became the next challenge which she happily met in the United States\, Europe\, and Asia. Before Covid\, she spent seven years teaching all levels in Thailand\, Malaysia\, and China. She resides in Ann Arbor\, MI\, still performing and teaching. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:Are Thoresen: Awakening Christ in Our Midst
DESCRIPTION:Are will address concerns about harmful emissions from devices we use or are exposed to every day. By finding the mid- or Christ-point in such objects\, we can then activate the Christ force that exists in the world even within such technological devices. (Later\, you can try this\, for instance\, on your cell phone.) This activation serves to lessen a device’s pathological effects. \nAre may consider questions like this with us: Can this method be used to mitigate the electromagnetic radiation of 5G transmitters? Is there a way to release demons or elementals that have been trapped by technology? Should the elementals be considered when we use solar power? \nAre Thoresen\, MVD\, will explore insights into the Three Elemental Realms that he gained while incapacitated by Covid in 2020. Since 1981\, Are has operated a holistic private veterinary practice in Sandefjord\, Norway. He has also trained in acupuncture\, homeopathy\, and anthroposophical medicine. He has published over 25 papers and 10 books and given lectures and workshops about his research at various venues including MysTech conferences. Are’s current research has focused on Vidar and Balder\, who stand as guardians to the threshold of the outer etheric world to open the Northern Way of Initiation. His research covers the Vidar-school as a continuation of the Michael-school\, the Christianization of bio-dynamic agriculture\, and the individual qualities of the Three Elemental Realms. In his works\, Are explores human potential for spiritual knowledge and new spiritual experiences in our time. \nLecture: Friday\, August 19\, 7:30pm \nWorkshop: Saturday\, August 20\, 9:00am-12:00pm \nAdmission: $12 for the Friday lecture\, or $75 for the Friday lecture and Saturday workshop. \nOnline advance ticket sales are closed\, but walk-ups are welcome at Brookside. \nInformation: Contact Christa Lynch at christa@threefold.org

SUMMARY:The Twelve Steps – a Spiritual Path
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, Bill Kelly will focus on the Twelve Steps as a spiritual program\, outlining the steps with a focus on their requirement for the individual’s willingness\, service to others\, and and persistent striving to improve their conscious contact with God. \nAs a Waldorf teacher\, business person\, and wood worker\, Bill has struggled for decades to understand and put into practice the ideas put forth in Dr. Steiner’s Philosophy of Freedom. He believes that the Twelve Steps reflect a pathway that can help one actualize the spiritual transformation that Rudolf Steiner outlines in his seminal work in Spiritual Science\, and will let the audience draw their own parallels.

SUMMARY:Grail\, Cathars\, and the Cross with Roses
DESCRIPTION:The Triple Alliance of the Light; on the Path of the Holy Grail\nA Talk by Alex Nitsche \nWho were the Cathars? And what was their connection to the Holy Grail? Whoever wants to obtain a realistic picture of the Cathars in today’s endless sea of superficial media information\, has a hard time penetrating to the truth. Our speaker\, Alex Nitsche\, will make a heartfelt effort to clarify some of the mystery. \nAlex Nitsche grew up outside of Stuttgart\, Germany. As a young adult\, he was drawn to the Grail legends. His spiritual journey began when he discovered Rosicrucianism through the Lectorium Rosicrucianum\, the Spiritual School of the Golden Rosycross. In 1995\, his work brought him to the United States; first to Columbus\, Ohio and then in 2001 to the Ann Arbor\, Michigan area. There he was introduced by a friend to the Great Lakes Branch of the Anthroposophical Society. Alex found a strong connection between Rudolf Steiner’s teachings and the experience with his Rosicrucian path. In 2012\, Alex joined the Board of the Great Lakes Branch as its Treasurer. He lives in Ann Arbor with his wife Barbara\, an Early Childhood Waldorf teacher\, and son AJ. \nSuggested donation: $10 \nInformation: Contact Robert Birkas at rbirkas@hotmail.com.

SUMMARY:Rudolf Steiner\, His Life and Times: The Year 1918
DESCRIPTION:A Talk by Karl Fredrickson\nWhen we think of Rudolf Steiner at his most productive\, we might consider the years just before World War I\, or those remarkable final seven years of his life\, from 1919 through 1925. But as we seek to approach more closely his core mission\, the year 1918 offers important insights. \nWhat he brought to us at that critical moment of our history not only set the stage for his fruitful final years; it provides us with crucial insights in how we\, in our own time\, can best move forward. \nInformation: Contact Gino Ver Eecke at gfbver@gmail.com.
