DESCRIPTION:New start date! \nEvery life story is rich with intention and meaning. There is a great need in our present culture for people trained to guide explorations into the nature of the human being in ways that reveal wholeness and connection. \nThis part-time three-year program of experiential learning is for people who are seeking images of the human being that reveal wholeness\, development\, and meaning. We use art\, such as nature observation\, drawing\, painting\, conversation\, clay modeling\, writing\, movement\, music\, and storytelling\, to illuminate the moments and themes of life. These same tools can be used with individuals as well. \nSkills gained in this program are relevant to all of life and can be applied in every profession\, offering entry points for the exploration of human life with its many gifts\, challenges\, and surprises. The assumption is that every human life is already whole\, has meaning\, and is not in need of fixing\, but rather is worthy of interest leading to understanding. \nThe 9th cycle of this program is now enrolling! DESCRIPTION:With Annelies Davidson\nAnnelies Davidson has in mind to begin this speech eurythmy course for professional eurythmists with an approach to the worlds of sound\, space\, and form with everyone moving together. Short texts will then be offered to choose from for smaller groups to work with. At the end\, showing each other the (very likely) unfinished pieces will be most stimulating\, as we see each other’s intentions having found form and character.  \nAnnelies Davidson began performing and teaching in adult education in 1975 in London\, England. She continued that work from 1986 until 2002 as a faculty member and stage artist at Eurythmy Spring Valley. From 2002 until 2008\, she was active as a freelance eurythmy teacher and director in different settings here and abroad while caring for the old and dying\, when time allowed\, at the Fellowship Community also in Spring Valley. In 2008\, she rejoined the faculty of Eurythmy Spring Valley. DESCRIPTION:With Nao Motomatsu & Miho Suzuki \nThese workshops introduce two very different styles of embroidery: sashiko and seed stitch. Each method asks for intentions\, be they therapeutic\, meditative\, or reflective; and each method’s distinctive way of creation elicits its own experience in our spirit\, perhaps leading us on a journey to find our own center. \nThe workshop will unfold over three Sunday afternoons: \n\nNovember 20: Sashiko mending – its history and techniques. Participants will work with two 4-1/2″ linen squares and plant-dyed cotton thread.\nDecember 11: Seed Stitch. Participants will work with two 5″ linen squares and plant-dyed silk thread.\nJanuary 8: Embroider a Book Cover. Each participant will create their own design to embroider a small project. Participants will be provided a 4×5-1/2″ notebook\, plant-dyed or natural linen fabric\, and plant-dyed silk thread.\n\nNo previous experience is required for the Sashiko and Seed Stitch workshops. SUMMARY:Embroidery Workshops: Tradition\, Innovation\, and Invention
DESCRIPTION:With Nao Motomatsu & Miho Suzuki \nThese workshops introduce two very different styles of embroidery: sashiko and seed stitch. Each method asks for intentions\, be they therapeutic\, meditative\, or reflective; and each method’s distinctive way of creation elicits its own experience in our spirit\, perhaps leading us on a journey to find our own center. \nThe workshop will unfold over three Sunday afternoons: \n\nNovember 20: Sashiko mending – its history and techniques. Participants will work with two 4-1/2″ linen squares and plant-dyed cotton thread.\nDecember 11: Seed Stitch. Participants will work with two 5″ linen squares and plant-dyed silk thread.\nJanuary 8: Embroider a Book Cover. Each participant will create their own design to embroider a small project. Participants will be provided a 4×5-1/2″ notebook\, plant-dyed or natural linen fabric\, and plant-dyed silk thread.\n\nNo previous experience is required for the Sashiko and Seed Stitch workshops.
