SUMMARY:The Fiber Craft Studio: Art of Clothing
DESCRIPTION:In this course\, which meets on ten Saturdays from September to May\, we design and sew garments using four natural fibers (cotton\, linen\, wool and silk) to create four items for a complete outfit. Drafting simple patterns and sewing by hand gives us an opportunity for meditative work and a chance to center ourselves. Over the course of the year we experience different sewing techniques\, plant dyeing\, and embroidery as we create our own unique fabric for our garments. \nEach class includes art and/or movement activities to accompany our handwork and bring enlivening impulses to each individual as well as the group. \nMiho Suzuki is a co-director of the Fiber Craft Studio as well as the lead faculty for the Art of Clothing course and faculty in the Applied Arts Program. Miho brings many gifts – she learned at FIT\, her background in clothing design and her love of plant-dyeing contribute to her valuable research at the studio. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:Creating Tone Eurythmy Forms for Different Styles of Music
DESCRIPTION:With Dorothea Mier\nHow do we approach creating tone eurythmy forms for different styles of music\, such as baroque\, classical\, modern\, and others? In this course for professional eurythmists\, Dorothea Mier will be looking into various tone pieces to uncover how the elements are intertwined to make an “inherent” eurythmy form. Through this\, we will be guided to discover styles\, based on the musical qualities explored in the centuries when the pieces were composed. It will be a lively and deep exploration of the age-old question of how to create tone eurythmy forms. \nInformation\, and to register: The deadline to register is August 16; the Course fee is $125. To register\, visit this page. \nCOVID safety: Our ESV community protocols established to meet the coronavirus have helped us to successfully navigate the challenges of operating in person during this year. We will continue to sustain our COVID practices during the summer courses we offer to ensure that everyone remains safe and returns home refreshed.

SUMMARY:Meeting the Self\, the Environment\, and the Other through the Work of the Hands
DESCRIPTION:With Chris Marlow\nThis series of three one-hour workshops will give different experiences of touch\, seeing\, and smell. The experience can be new and awakening\, or familiar and soothing\, even therapeutic; we can turn to them to stimulate and give new sensations or for relaxation and comfort. They also offer opportunities for inner development. \nThursday\, August 12: We will spend time examining locks of unwashed fleece and discuss its properties. Then we will spin a bit of it. \nFriday\, August 13: We will create a sun-dye jar\, to experience color from nature\, from the environment. There is a long history connected to the quest for color\, which includes imperialistic and environmental abuse. Then\, we will work with plant-dyed wool to create a “wool picture.” \nSaturday\, August 14: We will felt the wool to make a small mat. In the activity of felting\, you have to be open to the conversation between you and the wet wool. \nThis talk is a workshop in The Twelve Senses: Sensing Justice in the Encounter\, a virtual conference sponsored by Threefold Educational Foundation August 11-15. \nInformation\, and to register: The workshop fee is $90\, plus $20 for materials. SUMMARY:Sensing Self-Deception in the Use of Technology
DESCRIPTION:With Gopi Krishna Vijaya\nOur faculty of inner judgment has been challenged enormously in the past year\, and this faculty is the key with regard to the understanding and use of technology. When the faculty of judgment is perturbed\, it has ramifications for our entire worldview\, and digital technology affects it in a deeply unconscious way. This workshop will focus on bringing those details to the light of day\, so that we can observe these inner soul processes in full clarity. \nGopi Krishna Vijaya is from Bangalore\, India. He completed his undergraduate physics training at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (India)\, and received his PhD in Physics (Solar Energy) from the University of Houston (USA) in 2014. He is currently engaged in the study of the Reciprocal System of Physics – a way to inculcate Goethean thought into modern physics – in Salt Lake City\, USA. \nThis talk is a workshop in The Twelve Senses: Sensing Justice in the Encounter\, a virtual conference sponsored by Threefold Educational Foundation August 11-15. \nInformation\, and to register: Workshop fee: $30. Pre-registration is required; visit this page to register. \nRegistered attendees of the Twelve Senses Conference can attend this talk at no additional charge. SUMMARY:The Twelve Senses: Sensing Justice in the Encounter
DESCRIPTION:Click Here to Register\n \n\nHow do we encounter justice and foster a sense of responsibility as we navigate the realms of the self\, the world\, and our fellow human beings? How can a better understanding of the working of our twelve senses lead to insights that create a foundation for justice? \nThe twelfth and highest sense is the ability to live into the I-being of another person – for one human being to be able to truly and fully perceive another. An individual whose twelve senses are fully developed could instantly perceive another person’s experience of inequity and injustice\, free from judgment or self-interest. \nIn this conference\, presenters and participants from around the world will gather on Zoom to explore and discuss how awareness and understanding of the concepts of the twelve senses can lead humanity toward a society that is free from injustice in all its forms. \nClick Here to Register\nThe conference is organized around the question of justice in relation to the objects of our senses: the self\, the outer world\, and the other human being. Daily keynote talks by Joan Sleigh (South Africa)\, Dr. Lakshmi Prasanna (India)\, Jean-Michel Florin (France)\, and Michael Kokinos (Australia) bring these leading thoughts to life through the speakers’ experiences in education\, the medical and healing arts\, and biodynamic agriculture. Panel discussions will allow participants to meet the speakers in a more informal setting\, and to engage in open conversation. \nAttendees can choose from thirty hours of workshops organized around themes including “Action and Service in the World\,” “Education and Healing\,” “Justice: A Sense for the Truth\,” “Therapeutics\,” and “Education\, Technology\, and Freedom.” Workshop presenters include Jane Swain\, Richard Steel\, Kait Ziegler\, Carrie Schuchardt\, Jaimen McMillan\, Angie Foster\, Dottie Zold\, Frank Agrama\, and many more. \nConference participants from around the world will meet each other and share their experiences through group singing and eurythmy\, guided experiential orientations\, and open meetups and salon time. \nClick Here to Register\nThe Schedule in Brief\n\n\n\n\n	Weds 8/11Thurs 8/12:Justice and the Encounter with the SelfFri 8/13:Justice and the Encounter with the EnvironmentSat 8/14:Justice and the Encounter with the OtherSun 8/15\n\n\n\n\n	7:30amWelcome & IntroductionsWelcome & IntroductionsWelcome & Introductions\n\n\n	7:45amSingingSingingSinging\n\n\n	8:00amGuided Experiential Experience Becky RutherfordGuided Experiential Experience Becky RutherfordGuided Experiential Orientation Becky Rutherford\n\n\n	8:30amBreakBreakBreak\n\n\n	8:45amKeynote Balancing Selfhood and Sense of Belonging Dr. Lakshmi PrasannaKeynote Feet on the Ground and Head in the Stars Jean-Michel FlorinKeynote Sensing Social Justice - Ancient Ways Michael Kokinos\n\n\n	9:00-11:00amClosing Plenum \nKeynote The Twelve Senses: A Pathway to Justice through Authentic Encounter Joan Sleigh\n\n\n	10:00amBreakBreakBreak\n\n\n	10:45am-12:15pmPanel: Encounters at the Margins\n\n\n	11:15amMeetups and Salon TimeMeetups and Salon Time\n\n\n	12:30pmWorkshops IWorkshops IWorkshops I\n\n\n	1:30pmBreakBreakBreak\n\n\n	1:45pmWorkshops IIWorkshops IIWorkshops II\n\n\n	2:30pmWelcome and Introductions\n\n\n	2:45pmBreakBreakBreak\n\n\n	3:00pmKeynote Sensing Justice in the Encounter: Listening to the Silent Voices Joan SleighPanel Conversation Presenters of the Day and GuestsPanel Conversation Presenters of the Day and GuestsPanel: Meeting at the Intersection of Service and Action in Society \n\n\n	4:00pmLeading Thought for Tomorrow's Theme: Justice and the Encounter with the SelfLeading Thought for Tomorrow's Theme: Justice and the Encounter with the EnvironmentLeading Thought for Tomorrow's Theme: Justice and the Encounter with the Other\n\n\n	4:15pmEurythmyEurythmyEurythmy\n\n\n\n \nClick Here to Register\nWorkshops I (12:30-1:30pm)\n\n\n\n\n	ThemeThurs 8/12:Justice and the Encounter with the SelfFri 8/13:Justice and the Encounter with the EnvironmentSat 8/14:Justice and the Encounter with the Other\n\n\n\n\n	Education and HealingEncountering Myself: Walking in My Own Shoes Connie HelmsSupporting the Senses in a Special Needs Waldorf Classroom Daphna Stern & Gleiçe Paulino da SilvaIn Their Own Words: Experience of Guild Members in New Orleans Caroline Finck\, Laura Mooney\, & Friends\n\n\n	Meeting All Our NeighborsLife Sharing at the House of Peace: Sensing Justice\, Encountering HealingCarrie SchuchardtKinship with All Beings Sharifa OppenheimerInforming Our Work with Adolescents and Young Adults Marianne Perchlik\n\n\n	In MovementSpaces to See "I" to "I" Jaimen McMillanYes/No: Finding Justice in Balance Annette BammerThe Courage to Be Angie Foster\n\n\n	Action and Service in the WorldThe Tree of Life Nicholas LaccettiParticipating in Humanness Megan DurneyBuilding from the Bottom Up Kait Ziegler\n\n\n	Education\, Technology\, and FreedomWhere Are We When We Are Online?
