SUMMARY:Sunbridge Institute Summer Series 2023
DESCRIPTION:Sunbridge Institute’s Summer Series is a longstanding tradition within the Waldorf community. For decades\, Waldorf teachers and leaders from across North America and beyond have chosen our summertime weeklong professional development courses to help them prepare for their upcoming year; other individuals register for our weeklong introductory courses to learn more about Waldorf education and perhaps embark on a Waldorf career of their own. \nIn 2023\, we are pleased to be offering Approaching Grades 1-8 and Collaborative Leadership in real-time\, virtual classrooms. Introduction to Waldorf Early Childhood Education will be offered both virtually and in person\, and Phenomenology\, a new course on teaching middle school science\, is being presented by Gary Banks in person. \nInformation\, and to enroll: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:Phenomenology: Teaching Science in the Middle School Grades
DESCRIPTION:Professional development for Waldorf grades 6-8 class and science teachers\, and homeschooling parents working with a Waldorf curriculum. \nThis anthroposophically based\, hands-on course with longtime science teacher Gary Banks explores the phenomena-based approach to teaching science used in Waldorf schools. The intention of this week is to deepen the teacher’s connection with science and explore how these exciting topics can be brought to the students in a way that develops joy and enthusiasm. \nGary Banks is a founding core faculty member of Sunbridge’s Waldorf High School Teacher Education program\, and high school faculty chair and high school math and science teacher at the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor\, where he has been on the faculty since 2007. He is a member of the School’s College of Teachers and a Board trustee. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:"She Was Always There": Book Reading with Signe Eklund Schaefer
DESCRIPTION:“Who\, or perhaps what\, is she?” Signe Eklund Schaefer poses this question as she leads us into a heartfelt exploration of the great mystery that is Sophia. Her book does not take an academic or theological path but one that is personal and full of warmth and genuine interest in discovery that goes toward living reality\, well beyond mere names and fixed ideas. As Schaefer says\, she decided to “forego the idea of a straightforward narrative and instead interweave musings\, poems\, saved quotations\, and other assorted notes from my many years of living with questions about and to her.” \nSophia is rightly seen as the living\, moving being of universal wisdom and the archetypal feminine\, but Schaefer helps us to see her as more — as an expression of what humanity must rightfully become. \nInformation: Email administration@biographysocialart.org.
