SUMMARY:Renewing the Mysteries
DESCRIPTION:Exploring the Founding of the Christian Community and the Burning of the First Goetheanum\nKeynote Speaker: Daniel Hafner\nMany anthroposophists have understood the 1923/24 Christmas Foundation Conference as constituting a renewal of the Mysteries. Nine months after the Christmas Conference\, speaking to the priests of the Christian Community\, Rudolf Steiner pointed to a sequence from the founding of the Christian Community in September 1922\, to the burning of the Goetheanum at the end of that year\, to the Christmas Conference. \nIn this hundredth anniversary year of both the founding of the Christian Community and the burning of the Goetheanum\, can an exploration of these events help us to understand the nature of the New Mysteries? \nThe keynote speaker is Daniel Hafner\, priest of The Christian Community. He will address this theme with a particular focus on the colored windows of the First Goetheanum. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:The Twelve Steps – a Spiritual Path
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, Bill Kelly will focus on the Twelve Steps as a spiritual program\, outlining the steps with a focus on their requirement for the individual’s willingness\, service to others\, and and persistent striving to improve their conscious contact with God. \nAs a Waldorf teacher\, business person\, and wood worker\, Bill has struggled for decades to understand and put into practice the ideas put forth in Dr. Steiner’s Philosophy of Freedom. He believes that the Twelve Steps reflect a pathway that can help one actualize the spiritual transformation that Rudolf Steiner outlines in his seminal work in Spiritual Science\, and will let the audience draw their own parallels.

SUMMARY:Social Threefolding\, Waldorf Education\, and Technology
DESCRIPTION:Presentation by Gary Lamb\nFor a time\, Ehrenfried Pfeiffer worked closely with Rudolf Steiner conducting research into the development of an ethical/moral form of etheric technology. At a certain point\, Steiner told Pfeiffer to discontinue his research until Social Threefolding and Waldorf education were more prevalent in the world\, and the materialistic idea that the heart is simply a pump was overcome. This presentation will focus on essential features and interconnections of Social Threefolding\, Waldorf education\, and ethical/moral technology in our current context of private capitalism in the United States. \nCopies of A Road to Sacred Creation will be available for purchase at the event for $35. \nRSVP by Friday\, December 3\, to Gary Lamb: glamb@thecenterforsocialresearch.org or 518-672-4465 x223. \nSuggested donation: $5 to $25. \nA complementary presentation will take place on Saturday morning at the Christian Community; click here for details. \nGary Lamb is a director of the Hawthorne Valley Center for Social Research and its Ethical Technology Initiative. He holds a degree in civil technology and mathematics\, and has worked in construction\, medical technology\, and manufacturing. Prior to editing A Road to Sacred Creation\, Gary co-edited (with Sarah Hearn) Steinerian Economics and authored books on Waldorf education and associative economics. Gary was the managing editor of The Threefold Review\, a journal based on Rudolf Steiner’s ideas about a threefold social organism.

SUMMARY:The Role of the Double and the Rosicrucian Path in Our Technological Age
DESCRIPTION:A Talk and Workshop with Daniel Perez\nSo much has changed in society since the Michaelic events of 1879 that it is hard to conceive of the impact to our individual spiritual lives\, and how we may balance the effects of technology by strengthening of our soul forces in our time. By contrasting the evolution of technology with exercises in our soul capacities\, we may further the comprehension of what is truly human: the moral nature of the spiritual worlds\, as opposed to the forces of materialism. \nA talk on Friday\, March 5 will be based on examples in my youth during the personal computer revolution of the 1970s. A workshop the next day (Saturday\, March 6) will focus on how each human being carries their own unique set of experiences and insights through their biography\, as in a microcosmic Parsifal legend. \nDaniel Perez has been a technologist since he was a teenager\, at the dawn of the age of the personal computer\, when he learned programming as a student at Green Meadow Waldorf School. His adult career has placed him in several areas of technology development\, from space-based laser systems to video compression used for teleconferencing. He currently leads an engineering team in cloud computing development. \nThe Friday evening talk is open to all. Registration is required for the Saturday workshop. Suggested donation for both days: $40. \nInformation\, and to register: Contact Melissa Lyons at meliska.lyons@gmail.com or 845-517-5386.
