At a certain point\, Steiner told Pfeiffer to discontinue his research until Social Threefolding and Waldorf education were more prevalent in the world\, and the materialistic idea that the heart is simply a pump was overcome. He is also Faculty Chair\, co-founder\, and teacher at the Berkshire Waldorf High School\, MA. Dr. Sagarin is the former Editor of the Research Bulletin of the Research Institute for Waldorf Education. He is the author of The Story of Waldorf Education in the United States: Past\, Present\, and Future and of the “Introduction” to Rudolf Steiner’s Art History as a Reflection of Inner Spiritual Impulses. He has his doctorate in history from Columbia University and his BA in art history and fine art from Princeton University. SUMMARY:The Role of the Double and the Rosicrucian Path in Our Technological Age
DESCRIPTION:A Talk and Workshop with Daniel Perez\nSo much has changed in society since the Michaelic events of 1879 that it is hard to conceive of the impact to our individual spiritual lives\, and how we may balance the effects of technology by strengthening of our soul forces in our time. By contrasting the evolution of technology with exercises in our soul capacities\, we may further the comprehension of what is truly human: the moral nature of the spiritual worlds\, as opposed to the forces of materialism. \nA talk on Friday\, March 5 will be based on examples in my youth during the personal computer revolution of the 1970s. A workshop the next day (Saturday\, March 6) will focus on how each human being carries their own unique set of experiences and insights through their biography\, as in a microcosmic Parsifal legend. \nDaniel Perez has been a technologist since he was a teenager\, at the dawn of the age of the personal computer\, when he learned programming as a student at Green Meadow Waldorf School. His adult career has placed him in several areas of technology development\, from space-based laser systems to video compression used for teleconferencing. He currently leads an engineering team in cloud computing development.  \nThe Friday evening talk is open to all. Registration is required for the Saturday workshop. DESCRIPTION:The current world situation is affecting all areas of our lives\, and creating opportunities to change our thinking and our actions. As Rudolf Steiner recognized\, the beginning of modern economic life coincided with the reduction in our ability to think about economics in its true complexity. The aim of this study group is to move towards thinking in a way that can grasp economic ideas\, and to begin to practice these ideas in our lives. We will take up the lectures given by Rudolf Steiner in the summer of 1922 (GA 340).  \nThe first part of each meeting will be devoted to study of the text\, trying to think the thoughts\, to bring them into reality within us.  This will be followed by discussion of how these thoughts affect our actual individual lives. This will also be an opportunity each week to create a concrete way to practice an idea from the study during the coming week\, and to share our experiences. SUMMARY:Forming the Beloved Community
DESCRIPTION:Guiding Ideal\, Living Images and Actual Practice\nThis on-line seminary extension course will meet from 11:30am–12:30pm each day\, Monday to Friday. You will receive an email with a recording one to two days after each meeting. The recordings will be available for viewing until the end of July.  \nHow powerful does this theme of the beloved community newly appear in the time of social distancing? Due to restrictions imposed on national borders and honoring the request of health officials to stay home we will no longer be meeting in Spring Valley\, New York for this Seminary Extension course. However\, it has never felt more important to focus in on this theme\, this deep goal of humanity. \nWe are now in the process of creating a week-long program that you can participate in from home. This will likely involve personal practices of devotional gospel reading\, meditation\, prayer\, artistic practice prompts\, online presentations through which we will explore the theme of the beloved community. This ideal\, which longs to find expression among human beings and which touches every human heart\, will be the center of our focus for the week. Together we will seek for the ideal of Philadelphia\, work with living images in the Gospels and beyond\, and explore helpful practices. Our starting point is that which was initiated by Christ among the disciples in the Upper Room\, which then rays out into wider circles of life\, leading us into the future.\n \nSuggested donation: $80 to $120 US per person for all five meetings. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.
