SUMMARY:Crossing the Veil and Coming Back to Life
DESCRIPTION:Presenting an ensemble theater piece based on true stories of people who have reported near death experiences. \nThe stories follow a travel journey narrative starting with the “moment of death” when the characters have been declared clinically dead or experienced a medical crisis that brought them to the edge of death. This leads to a crossing of the veil between life and death and profound experiences and visions of life in the postmortem realms. The journey concludes with a return to physical life and the challenges of sharing the experience with others and integrating it into their lives. \nThe piece is a new work in progress conceived by Robert Cornett and led by Ted Pugh. \nEnsemble: Eddie Allen\, Robert Cornett\, Laurie Portocarrero\, Vincent Roppolo\, Dasana Smyth. \nMusicians: Christina Porkert\, Sarah Stosiek. \nSuggested donation: $10-$25. No one turned away for lack of funds.

SUMMARY:Renewing the Mysteries
DESCRIPTION:Exploring the Founding of the Christian Community and the Burning of the First Goetheanum\nKeynote Speaker: Daniel Hafner\nMany anthroposophists have understood the 1923/24 Christmas Foundation Conference as constituting a renewal of the Mysteries. Nine months after the Christmas Conference\, speaking to the priests of the Christian Community\, Rudolf Steiner pointed to a sequence from the founding of the Christian Community in September 1922\, to the burning of the Goetheanum at the end of that year\, to the Christmas Conference. \nIn this hundredth anniversary year of both the founding of the Christian Community and the burning of the Goetheanum\, can an exploration of these events help us to understand the nature of the New Mysteries? \nThe keynote speaker is Daniel Hafner\, priest of The Christian Community. He will address this theme with a particular focus on the colored windows of the First Goetheanum. \nInformation\, and to register: Visit this page.

SUMMARY:The Twelve Steps – a Spiritual Path
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, Bill Kelly will focus on the Twelve Steps as a spiritual program\, outlining the steps with a focus on their requirement for the individual’s willingness\, service to others\, and and persistent striving to improve their conscious contact with God. \nAs a Waldorf teacher\, business person\, and wood worker\, Bill has struggled for decades to understand and put into practice the ideas put forth in Dr. Steiner’s Philosophy of Freedom. He believes that the Twelve Steps reflect a pathway that can help one actualize the spiritual transformation that Rudolf Steiner outlines in his seminal work in Spiritual Science\, and will let the audience draw their own parallels.

SUMMARY:Imagining Rudolf Steiner's Ideas about Ancient Planetary Evolution as an Original Image of the Human Soul
DESCRIPTION:A Musical Recapitulation\nA Talk by Saeko Shibayama Cohn\nWhat does anthroposophy tell us about human psychology? How does its understanding of the human soul differ from mainstream psychology\, and why is such an approach relevant today? \nBased on a close reading of Rudolf Steiner’s The Inner Experiences of Evolution (1911)\, the present lecture spotlights the surprisingly universal “efficacy” of Steiner’s more esoteric work on angeological cosmology. The gestures\, feelings and moods of spiritual beings that characterize the ancient planetary conditions (Saturn\, Sun\, Moon) and the present Earth will be discussed. An attempt will be made to capture and enliven the textual analysis through a live performance of classical and contemporary music on the modern lyre. \nSaeko Shibayama Cohn holds a PhD in premodern Japanese literature from Columbia University. A Green Meadow parent\, she teaches Japanese in Green Meadow’s high school\, assists handwork at Green Meadow and the Otto Specht School\, and volunteers at the Fiber Craft Studio. \nSuggested donation: $12 / $7 students and seniors. \nInformation: Contact Melissa Lyons at threefoldbranch@gmail.com or 845-517-5386.

SUMMARY:A Question Of Destiny: The Remarkable Civil War Friendship of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass
DESCRIPTION:A talk by Karl Fredrickson\nFrederick Douglass had been one of Lincoln’s harshest critics during the Civil War. Finally\, in 1863\, he boarded a train in Rochester and headed down to Washington\, hoping to confront the President directly. What ensued was a surprising and remarkable friendship\, one that would play an important role in bringing the nation forward toward its “New Birth of Freedom.” We will look at the life stories of these two men\, both of whom were truly “self-made\,” rising from humble origins\, and how they crossed the racial divide to help the nation chart a new direction\, one that is in harmony with its true destiny. \nSuggested donation: $12 / $7 students and seniors. \nInformation: Contact Melissa Lyons at 845-517-5386 or threefoldbranch@gmail.com.
