SUMMARY:Dyeing a Rainbow: Silk Veil Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 31\, 2pm – 5pm \nJoin us in making an extra large size rainbow silk veil learning how to over-dye with three kinds of plant colors. You will receive healing energy from the color of nature and be surprised by the wonder of over-dye magic. \nIn this workshop\, participants will enjoy colors by mixing the three primary colors on paper first using pastel to understand how rainbow colors are created and how we overdye on silk. We will prepare a natural indigo vat\, along with two additional dye pots—red (Eastern brazilwood) and yellow (Osage orange)—and use them to dye silk. Participants will begin by dyeing a sample strip\, then create their own oversized silk veil. SUMMARY:Art of Clothing 2025-26
DESCRIPTION:Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00pm on September 20\, October 25\, November 22\, December 13\, January 17\, February 14\, March 14\, April 18\, May 23\, and June 6. \nIn this course\, we will design and sew three garments using the natural fibers of cotton\, linen\, and wool\, as well as making a shawl or scarf using silk\, to create a complete outfit. Drafting simple patterns and sewing by hand gives us the opportunity to center ourselves and practice a meditative way of working.
