There is a great need in our present culture for people trained to guide explorations into the nature of the human being in ways that reveal wholeness and connection. \nThis part-time three-year program of experiential learning is for people who are seeking images of the human being that reveal wholeness\, development\, and meaning. We use art\, such as nature observation\, drawing\, painting\, conversation\, clay modeling\, writing\, movement\, music\, and storytelling\, to illuminate the moments and themes of life. These same tools can be used with individuals as well. \nSkills gained in this program are relevant to all of life and can be applied in every profession\, offering entry points for the exploration of human life with its many gifts\, challenges\, and surprises. Drawing on Jennie Durant’s “Bitter Honey: A Political Ecology of Honey Bee Declines” and other recent research\, Pfeiffer Center beekeeper Bill Day will begin the day by examining the history and current state of the honeybee in relation to the household of nature in North America. What can the story of humans\, honeybees\, and agriculture in America teach us? DESCRIPTION:With Bill Day \nGet off the package treadmill!   \nIn this half-day workshop\, Pfeiffer Center beekeeper Bill Day will present the biology of queen-rearing and swarming (the honeybee’s natural form of reproduction)\, and how to apply that knowledge to catching swarms and making your own splits. Weather permitting\, much of the workshop will take place in the Pfeiffer Center garden\, where Bill will demonstrate the techniques discussed in the classroom.   \nYou will leave this workshop with clear guidelines on how to propagate your own hives and “get off the package treadmill.”  \nBill Day has been keeping bees for fifteen years. He is the beekeeper and beekeeping instructor at the Pfeiffer Center\, and also keeps bees at Bluefield Farm in Blauvelt\, NY.

You may enroll for multiple sessions at a discounted rate\, or for single sessions (space permitting). \nThis dynamic and experiential series for children will explore water\, fire\, food\, and shelter over the course of the year.
