A Festival organized by the Eurythmy Association of North America (EANA)

Festival Information

The Calendar of the Soul with its 52 verses is the inspiration behind this event. Rudolf Steiner composed the calendar to tune the soul as a companion through the year. Later on he also created eurythmy forms for each verse in variously sized groups. This festival will bring all 52 verses to performance in eurythmy in English, as a U.S. premier. EANA has gathered groups nationwide (including Canada, Mexico and Taiwan) to prepare the verses for performance at the festival.

We welcome the general public interested in exploring this remarkable progression through lectures, and artistic workshops in eurythmy, speech, painting and plant dying. Professional level courses in eurythmy are taught by distinguished teachers in the field from the U.S., Holland, and Germany.

The festival features Mary Stewart Adams, Mac Mead and Daniel Hafner as keynote speakers in the morning  and offers evening performances of Poetry, Music and Eurythmy (featuring segments of the whole calendar). The event’s culmination is on Sunday morning with the US premier of all 52 verses performed in sequence in eurythmy. We will witness  the unfolding of the breathing of the human soul and cosmos in the realm of the etheric. We look forward to welcoming you on the grounds of the Threefold Educational Foundation.

Conference Highlights

Opening Address:
Inner Accompaniment of the World’s Path ~ Poetry and the Stars in the Calendar of the Soul with Mary Stewart Adams

Keynote presentations:
The Soul Calendar and the Cycle of the Year with Mac Mead.
We will explore the weaving of the seasons and festivals in relation to the soul of the human being and the earth.

Two keynote presentations with Daniel Hafner: A School for Etheric Perception and  Polarity and Enhancement.

Light Eurythmy:”The Illumination Impulse for Eurythmy” by Rudolf Steiner, with Thomas Sutter
The art of light eurythmy follows the principles of eurythmy. The stage space is to be transformed by light in such a way that it becomes the best possible spatial. This lecture and demonstration provides a fundamental introduction to Rudolf Steiner’s illumination impulse. Examples will illustrate how Rudolf Steiner approached lighting design and the principles he applied.

We hope you’ll join us for a pre-conference presentation:
The Romantic Genius of the Calendar of the Soul with Daniel Polikoff. The verses comprising the Calendar of the Soul tap into the Romantic Imagination: ideas of Mind, Nature, and their creative interplay developed by Goethe, Wordsworth, Novalis and friends. Refreshing our memory of this background by way of literary and philosophical example—including the speaker’s own “Romantic” poetry—can inspire a deeper connection with the abiding genius of the Calendar of the Soul.

Sustaining the Arts

This festival is open to everyone. We ask that everyone participating and attending please carry the whole of the festival in mind, and the resources that are needed to help make such a festival possible. We hope to be able to offer the contributors – performers, presenters, workshop leaders, what they need in order to sustain and develop their work. We have tried to form the budget for this festival with the whole, and everyone who participates, in mind.  We estimate the costs of this festival to be in the range of $35,000-$40,000. This includes a fund to offer travel support to eurythmists and speakers who have prepared verses to present at the festival.

At EANA we strive to make attendance of the festival as affordable as possible; however if you are unable to register for financial reasons please contact the organizing team at 52verses2026@gmail.com
