Join us in making an extra large size rainbow silk veil learning how to over-dye with three kinds of plant colors. You will receive healing energy from the color of nature and be surprised by the wonder of over-dye magic.
In this workshop, participants will enjoy colors by mixing the three primary colors on paper first using pastel to understand how rainbow colors are created and how we overdye on silk. We will prepare a natural indigo vat, along with two additional dye pots—red (Eastern brazilwood) and yellow (Osage orange)—and use them to dye silk. Participants will begin by dyeing a sample strip, then create their own oversized silk veil. Let’s feel colors together!
Cost: $125 per adult and $10 for additional children
Mordanted silk veil is 35″ X 108″ and a small mordanted silk will be provided to practice over-dyeing.
