What happens when a 5 year-old boy orphan becomes king? Initially published in 1923, this internationally acclaimed book is infused with the philosophies of child’s rights activist and hero of the Holocaust Janusz Korczak, who also famously ran an orphanage in Warsaw. It addresses the importance in the role of the adult to show children how to be; and that children should have a voice and the same rights as adults. Though a children’s book, the story takes a look at right and wrong, rich and poor, those who have power and those who don’t… even the absurdity of war and racism. All this and more from the view of a child.
