We will make a hand sewn wool felt slipper that can be made for child or adult, using a pattern based on tracing the foot. The resulting slipper is a lightweight slip-on, perfect as a travel slipper or for indoor wear.
What will make this project special is the local made felt, sourced from the Cornwall Yarn Shop in Cornwall, NY. The felt comes in shades of brown, grey, or white, made from leftover wool fiber from the Battenkill Fiber Mill in Greenwich, NY. It is thick and durable and we can be glad we are making slippers for ourselves without a large global footprint!
Chris Marlow has been Co-Director of the Fiber Craft Studio since 2012. Before that, she was a lower school handwork teacher at Green Meadow Waldorf School for 15 years with 2 years at a charter school in New York City, the West Side Community School.
Fee: $60 includes all materials.
