Three Workshops with Matěj Rybka We will explore the mechanics and dynamics of storytelling with a special focus on fairy tales: how to deliver a story to a listener in a living way with an imagination-filled power of expression, looking at the elements of the storytelling style, its musicality, rhythm, tone, voice production, intonation, phrasing, pace, and emphasis.
This end-of-term performance by students of the Steiner School of Speech Arts will feature epic and lyric poetry.

Selections from three epic works: Evangeline by Henry W. Longfellow; Voluspa (in the Old Norse); and Morte d'Arthur by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

It is said that all of anthroposophy can be found within Rudolf Steiner’s monumental verse, the Foundation Stone Meditation. The focus of this monthly speech chorus will be the development of the wide-ranging qualities of speech needed for the Meditation’s artistic expression.

This course will meet weekly, building a foundation of choral speech through exercises and seasonally themed pieces, working toward a sharing at a Threefold community festival on February 15. Open to men and women; no experience necessary!
