Creating your own hand-spun yarn can be a very satisfying activity on many levels. Gaining new skills, and then attentively applying them while observing your materials and your process, can lead to a transformative experience for both the fiber and the fiber artisan.
In this four-session course, we will learn — by doing — how to prepare and spin wool fiber. Starting with a raw fleece from local Jacob sheep, we will wash the wool, card it, and spin it using a drop spindle. In the final class, we will bring color to our yarn using natural dyes from the Fiber Craft Studio’s dye garden.
All levels of experience are welcome.
Please note: This course was previously announced to start on January 22.
Fee: $400, including materials.
