This hands-on afternoon program is designed for homeschoolers to enjoy both cooking and creative handwork activities. Participants will engage in simple, age-appropriate cooking projects and craft-based activities that encourage creativity, independence and practical skills.
Mysterious Phenomena: How Honeybees Defy Our Thinking
Honeybees invite us into an encounter with a creature so wise, communally-oriented, and creative that open-minded and careful observation of their activities serves to further deepen the parable and mystery of who they truly are.

The Biodynamic Cycle of the Year, Elemental Beings, & Compost Preps Cont.
We will discuss and make the yarrow and valerian biodynamic preparations. The other compost preparations that were buried in the October class will be unearthed, and the subject of preparation storage will be covered. We will make and show the use of the biodynamic insect pepper, and time will be given for project presentations for those on the certificate track. The subjects of elemental beings and the biodynamic cycle of the year will round out the day.
Art of Clothing 2025-26
In this course, we will design and hand-sew a complete outfit using natural fibers—cotton, linen, wool, and silk. Through simple pattern drafting, plant dyeing, embroidery, and other techniques, we’ll explore a meditative and creative approach to garment making.
Art of Clothing Exhibition
Over the course of ten classes, students in the Art of Clothing course have designed, created, and hand-sewn their own garments from cotton, wool, silk, and linen. Come to Orchard House to admire their artistic handwork and the lovely apparel fashioned with the new skills they have acquired.
