In this course, we design and sew three garments using natural fibers of cotton, linen, and wool, and make a shawl or scarf using silk to create a complete outfit. Drafting simple patterns and sewing by hand gives us the opportunity to center ourselves and practice a meditative way of working. |

Dr. Chuck Stead will present the research he has compiled on the local folktale of the Ramapo Salamander. Considered one of the earliest stories in association with the Dutch Iron Mining of the 17th century in the Ramapo Valley, this tale includes influences of Christian, Algonquin, and Angolan culture. |
